Have you ever thought about giving a little time to your community, but weren’t sure how to get started? Volunteering with the Scouts in Lyme Regis and Uplyme is one of the most rewarding ways you can make a real difference.

The Heart of Our Community

Scouting in Lyme Regis and Uplyme has been at the heart of the community for generations – for over 100 years! Every week, young people from all walks of life come together to learn skills for life, grow in confidence, and make lifelong friendships. This wouldn’t be possible without volunteers — the dedicated adults who give their time, energy, and enthusiasm to support the next generation.

You Don’t Have to Be a Bear Grylls

Many people think they need to be an expert in camping or know how to tie 100 knots to volunteer — that’s not the case! Whatever your background or skillset, there’s a place for you. Whether you can help run weekly meetings, be part of the fundraising team, or help keep our documents up to date behind the scenes, your contribution will be valued and impactful.

It’s Not Just for the Kids

Volunteering is a two-way street. Adults who volunteer often say they gain just as much as the young people they support — from building new friendships and learning new skills to gaining confidence and a sense of purpose. It’s a brilliant way to feel connected, especially in a small community like ours. Of course, once  the young people are tucked up in their tents, we do enjoy our late night chats 😅

Flexible and Fun

We understand life is busy. That’s why we’re flexible — you can give as much or as little time as you’re able to. Whether it’s once a week or once a term, every hour you give helps our young people grow and thrive. And we promise, it’s not all paperwork! Expect laughter, teamwork, and plenty of tea and biscuits.

Join Something Bigger

By volunteering locally, you’re joining a movement that stretches across the UK and around the world. Scouting offers world-class training, support networks, and even opportunities for adventure — whether that’s an activity day locally or internationally.
