About Us
Located in the heart of the Lym Valley, at our Scout Hut on Rhode Lane, 1st Lym Valley Scout Group has been involved in the communities of Lyme Regis and Uplyme for nearly 110 years.
Whilst we’ve been around for a while, we’ve kept looking to the future, now providing skills for life for over 80 6-18 year olds every week. Our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers love getting stuck in, having a laugh and making memories and friends that last a lifetime.
A lot’s changed in 110 years!
If you think Scouting is all about knots and woggles, you couldn’t be further from the truth. Today’s Scouts have the opportunity to do everything from archery, shooting, camping and rafting to working on world issues and making a difference locally. All our activities help build our Scout’s leadership skills, work on their confidence and improving their mental health and resilience; standing them in good stead for dealing with whatever challenges they might face in the future.
Everyone’s welcome
We’re proud our Scouts come from all backgrounds – there is no such thing as the typical Beaver, Cub, Scout or Explorer – meaning everyone has the chance to thrive at 1st Lym Valley. We’re also proud to have bursaries in place for those who need support to be a part of the group, which can help towards camps, subs and trips.
Not forgetting our amazing volunteers
And much like our Scouts, our volunteers come from all walks of life too! We have everyone: from train guards to builders, from nurses to teachers, from administrators to students – we’re very fortunate to have such a range of adults willing to volunteer and make a difference.
