Thinking of volunteering? Good for you!

Cub being invested

Sometimes it’s as simple as putting on a necker

Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the group – whether they help out as uniformed leaders, look after our hut, or be one of our brilliant trustees. However, as much as volunteering is about giving something back, it’s also about getting something out of it too! Whether that be the feeling of satisfaction, the development of your skills, or meeting new people in our community – you’ll certainly be getting more back than you put in.

We’re proud our volunteers come from all walks of life – from railway workers to builders; to those who work in professional services to teachers and hospital workers – the variety of backgrounds is what makes Scouting special. Whilst there’s no such thing as a typical volunteer, all our volunteers (currently around 30 adults) share a passion for making skills for life a reality for over 80 young people who get involved each week. Also all our volunteers, volunteer with a us on a flexible basis – meaning they help when they can, enabling them to fit Scouting in around their lives.

Wonder what happens next?

If you want to get involved, or give it a go, please do contact us and we can go from there – we’re bound to be able to fit you in at 1st Lym Valley . If you need any more convincing about the benefits to getting stuck in, the Scouts have some solid facts that might help:

Convinced? Do get in touch and we’ll go from there!

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
